How do I use a virtual fax machine in a dial plan?

Tell the system to listen for a fax tone. If a fax is detected, the call is intercepted and sent to the designated virtual fax machine.

Note: There is a new version of this visual dial plan editor in GoTo Admin with many new and improved features! Even if your account uses PBX Administration (classic) you can still use the new and improved dial plan editor by signing in with your admin credentials at https://admin.goto.com and selecting Phone system > Dial plans.

Available for United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Australia, France, Spain, and Austria. Virtual faxing is supported internationally to 50+ countries for free, excluding Mexico and Brazil.

Note: As Austria is not part of the free countries, only EMEA countries can fax to Austria.

If you're an admin who signs in at https://admin.goto.com, these steps are for you.

Use a virtual fax machine in a dial plan

Before you begin: You must be assigned the Admin or Super admin role to perform this task.

Sign in to GoTo Admin.
From Phone System > Dial Plans, select an existing dial plan or create a new dial plan.
Drag and drop the Detect Fax node from the library to the desired spot on the workspace.

Important: This node must be the first used in a dial plan if you want to detect a fax.
Drag and drop of the previous node to the left side of the Detect Fax node, connecting the nodes to prevent dropped calls.

Complete the following setting(s):

Setting	Description
Choose…	Select the desired virtual fax machine.
Next Node	Connects nodes to create a call flow.

Note: You also have the option to create a new virtual fax from the drop-down list. For detailed steps on how to add a new virtual fax extension, refer to How do I add an extension?

Continue to build the call flow.
Select Save.

PBX Administration (classic)

If you're an admin who signs in at https://my.jive.com/pbx, these steps are for you.

Sign in to PBX Administration (classic) at https://my.jive.com/pbx.
Select Dial Plans in the left navigation menu and then choose the dial plan you want to edit.
Result: The dial plan editor will launch in a separate window.
Drag and drop the Detect Fax node from the library to the desired spot on the workspace.

Important: This node must be the first used in a dial plan if you want to detect a fax.
Drag and drop of the previous node to the left side of the Detect Fax node, connecting the nodes to prevent dropped calls.

Complete the following setting(s):

Setting	Description
Choose…	Select the desired virtual fax machine.
Next Node	Connects nodes to create a call flow.

Continue to build the call flow.
Select Save.
