How do I allow a direct extension or ring group to receive incoming faxes?

Avoid physical fax machines and dedicated fax lines by setting up a line or ring group to accept calls and virtual faxes.

Before you begin:

You must have an admin or super admin role to perform this task.
To receive faxes, you must route a phone number to their extension. Watch video!
If the user needs the ability to receive faxes larger than 10 MB, make sure to enable storage for larger faxes.

Available for United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Australia, France, Spain, and Austria. Virtual faxing is supported internationally to 50+ countries for free, excluding Mexico and Brazil.

Note: As Austria is not part of the free countries, only EMEA countries can fax to Austria.

GoTo Admin

If you're an admin who signs in at https://admin.goto.com, these steps are for you.

Sign in to GoTo Admin.
Select Phone System and then choose Direct extensions or Ring groups.
Select the extension that needs to receive both incoming faxes and calls.
From Settings > Virtual fax enable Intercept incoming faxes.
From Send faxes to, enter an email address where received faxes should be sent.

Note: You can only send faxes to a single email address. If you need to deliver your faxes to a group, use an email alias (e.g., sales@guthrie.com) or create an auto-forward rule in your email client.
Select Save.
Result: Email communications will be sent from @goto.com, @jive.com or @jivecommunications.com. Please ensure these domains are allowed so that emails are not automatically filtered as spam.

PBX Administration

If you're an admin who signs in at https://my.jive.com/pbx, these steps are for you.

Sign in to PBX Administration (classic).
Select Lines or Ring Groups in the left navigation menu and then select the line or ring group that needs to receive both incoming calls and faxes.
Enable Intercept Incoming Faxes and then enter the desired email destination.
- For a line, go to Fax > Receiving by Email
- For a ring group, go to General > Options.
Note: You can only send faxes to a single email address. If you need to deliver your faxes to a group, use an email alias (e.g., sales@guthrie.com) or create an auto-forward rule in your email client.
Select Save.
