Use virtual fax
Send, receive, view, download, share, and delete virtual faxes.
Note: Faxes in the app are stored for a maximum of 90 days. Large files that are greater than 10MB will be deleted after 21 days.
Available for United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Australia, France, Spain, and Austria. Virtual faxing is
supported internationally to
50+ countries for free, excluding Mexico and Brazil.
Note: As Austria is not part of the free countries, only EMEA countries can fax to Austria.
Desktop or web app
From the desktop app, select Phone from the left navigation menu.
Select Fax from the left sidebar.
Note: If you don't see Fax from Phone, an admin must enable virtual fax permissions for your account.
Select a fax from the list and then choose what you’d like to do.

Preview a fax
Select the thumbnail to open a preview. Only the first page of the fax is included in the preview.
Download a fax
Select . The fax will be automatically saved to your downloads folder.
Mark a fax as read
Select .
Optional: Select the icon again to mark as unread.
Delete a fax
Select .
Select Delete to confirm.
Note: Only available if the delete permission has been enabled by an admin.
Maximum of 40MB for all attached files. You can send up to 500 pages, though the quality will be reduced after 150 pages.
Review the fax details and then select Send to send.
What to do next: You will receive an email in the case of transmission failures.
Email communications will be sent from @goto.com, @jive.com or @jivecommunications.com. Please ensure these domains are allowed so that emails are not automatically filtered as spam.
Mobile app
From the mobile app, select Phone.
Select Fax.
Note: If you don't see Fax from Phone, an admin must enable virtual fax permissions for your account.
Select a fax from the list.

Email
Faxes sent through email will not be shown in the desktop or mobile apps.
From your email account, compose a new message.
Enter faxNumber@‹domain›.fax.goto.com in the To: field.
Replace faxNumber with the external 10 digit fax phone number, without the 1 or any dashes (e.g., 8012321987). You cannot send a virtual fax to an internal extension or a number that requires an extension (e.g., 8012321987 ext 1121).
Replace ‹domain› with your unique domain. PBX Administration (classic) users will find their domain in the parentheses at the top of their portal dashboard. GoTo Admin portal users will find their domain in Account Settings.
Note:
We are now GoTo and the address has been updated. However, faxNumber@‹domain›.fax.onjive.com is still supported.
You can now send virtual faxes to multiple recipients. You can add recipients to the To, CC, and BCC fields.
Enter the virtual fax machine’s access code in the Subject: field. If you add a subject, enter a space after the access code and then include the subject (e.g., 294034210 March Invoice).
Note: If you do not have the virtual fax machine’s access code, contact your admin for assistance.
Remove all text from the body of the email, including email signatures.
Attach file(s) to the email. If including a cover sheet, attach that first. Supported file types:

Note: Larger files may experience lag time or potentially fail. We recommend no more than 200 pages at a time.

Note: Once you send a fax, you cannot cancel it.
What to do next:
If the fax was delivered successfully, you may or may not receive an email confirmation as this functionally must be enabled by your admin.
