Record a Meeting

Organizers and co-organizers can record the meeting and make it available for anyone to view at a later time. When a meeting is recorded, the presenter's screen, audio conference, and any shared applications are included.

Notice: This article addresses the new GoTo app experience. View How do I record a meeting? (Classic), How do I record the meeting from an Android?, or How do I record a meeting from the iOS app? for the classic experience.
Attention: The navigation has been improved, but the settings shown in this video are the same.
We recommend having two organizers in the meeting in case one encounters any issues that may potentially disrupt the recording. If you are recording locally to your computer, you must be on the GoTo desktop app. If a co-organizer records online, the recording will be available in the History tab of the scheduling organizer's account. If a co-organizer records locally, the recording will be available on their computer afterwards for them to convert and send to the scheduling organizer if desired.
Choose your platform:

Desktop app or web

  1. Start or join a meeting.
  2. Optional: Make sure you are sharing your screen or an application if you want them included in the recording.
  3. Select Record.
Note: If you are using local recording, make sure you have at least 5GB of free space in the desired local folder.

Result: The Record icon will glow, and attendees will see a notification that the meeting is being recorded.

  4. Optional: To take notes during the meeting, hover over Record and then select Take notes.
  5. Optional: To pause or stop your recording, select Record again. Alternatively, you can end the session.
Note: Pausing and resuming will not break up the recording into multiple files. However, please note that your attendees will not be able to view recordings that exceed 20GB so if you know you will be recording a long session (beyond the typical 1-3 hours), we recommend ending the meeting halfway and restarting it in order to split the recording into 2 files. The maximum length for a recording is 24 hours (or 2 hours with no attendees).
What to do next: Once the session is over, you'll be taken to GoTo where you can access the recording (it may take a couple minutes for the recording to appear) and search for other past meetings (recorded or not) by meeting ID, or notes. If you recorded locally recording, go to the folder you selected to save recordings in to locate your recording.
Important: All local recordings are saved as a WEBM files. We are currently in the process of creating a file transcoder. In the meantime, please use a third-party service to convert your WEBM files as needed.
