Common Error Messages

These are some of the common error messages you may come across while launching, joining, or participating in a session as well as what you can do should you encounter them.

Could not connect

This error occurs when a network issue is preventing GoTo Meeting from connecting to the GoTo servers.
  1. Make sure that you are connected to the internet. As needed, reset your modem, router, or networking equipment and then run the GoTo Meeting Connection Wizard.
  2. Check to see if there are any outages in your area.
  3. Make sure that any firewalls you might be using are configured correctly so they are not blocking the application from connecting with us.

Invalid Meeting ID

This error means that the session ID you entered does not match with the session you are trying to join because it is incorrect, was mistyped, or the training ID has expired.
  1. Make sure that you have entered the correct 9-digit ID.
  2. Make sure that the meeting date and time is accurate compared to when you are trying to join.
What to do next: Contact your oranizer for an updated ID as neded.

Meeting is full

This error means that the session has already reached the pre-designated amount of attendees.

Note that although organizers can register more attendees than their capacity allows, only the first attendees to join will be allowed into the session (depending on the plan selected by the organizer). This means that even if you received a Registration Confirmation message, you will not be able to join if the capacity has been reached.

What to do next: Contact the oranizer to see if the session is being recorded or if another session will be scheduled in the future.

Organizer experiencing technical difficulties

This error means that your organizer is having connection or bandwidth problems.
What to do next: Unfortunately there is nothing you can do as an attendee. The session will continue to run until your organizer stabilizes their connection (with a 1 hour limit). Depending on the organizer's setting, you may be able to share your screen to continue your session.

Error 12007

This error means that the server name or address could not be resolved and is usually caused by the network security.
  1. If you or your company uses firewall allowlisting to restrict network access to only specific websites or software, check out our Optimal Firewall Configuration article to ensure there is no missing allowlisting and that your service can connect.
  2. Have your domain admin install GoTo Meeting via MSI (Windows)/DMG (Mac) and run the app as an admin to ensure proper clearance.

GoTo Meeting has experienced difficulties

This error occurs when there is an issue with the download or your firewalls.
  1. Run an anti-malware software (e.g., Malwarebytes, etc.) and then restart your computer before joining again.
  2. Uninstall GoTo Meeting and GoTo Opener and then re-download GoTo.

Service currently unavailable

This error means that GoTo Meeting may be experiencing an outage.
What to do next: Try joining or starting the session from the GoTo mobile app, or connect to the session audio using your phone.
