Why am I receiving an SMS error?

Understand possible causes for SMS error messages. Texting is only available in the US and Canada.

If you received a message saying "not delivered," select the information icon to the left for more information. Learn more about the errors from the table below.

Error message	Potential causes
INVALID_DESTINATION	Recipient's number is invalid for messaging.
FORBIDDEN_DESTINATION	Recipient's number is invalid for messaging.
UNALLOCATED_DESTINATION	Recipient's number is invalid for messaging.
PROVISIONING_ISSUE	Recipient can't receive messages right now. Wait a while before retrying.
REJECTED_BY_CARRIER	Message was blocked by a carrier for violating a policy.
INTERNATIONAL_DENIED	Recipient's location is not supported.
VOLUMETRIC_VIOLATION	You've sent more messages than the carrier allows. Wait a while before retrying.
TOO_MANY_REQUESTS	You've sent more messages than the carrier allows. Wait a while before retrying.
UNKNOWN_SERVER_ERROR	Something went wrong while sending your message. Retry sending.
DELIVERY_FAILED	Something went wrong while sending your message. Retry sending.
TEMPORARY_DELIVERY_FAILURE	Something went wrong while sending your message. Retry sending.
DELIVERY_UNCONFIRMED	Something went wrong while sending your message. Retry sending.
