How do I create a dial plan?

Create a dial plan to customize how you handle inbound calls.

Important: Please excuse our mess while we improve your admin experience! We are in the process of migrating all accounts to the new GoTo Admin. The article below is meant for admins who use PBX Administration (classic) at https://my.jive.com/pbx. If you're an admin who uses GoTo Admin at https://admin.goto.com, please refer to: How do I create a dial plan?
Attention: There is a new version of this visual dial plan editor in GoTo Admin with many new and improved features! Even if your account uses PBX Administration (classic) you can still use the new and improved dial plan editor by signing in with your admin credentials at http://admin.goto.com and selecting Phone system > Dial plans.

Before you begin:
  • You must be assigned the Admin or Super admin role to perform this task.
  • Extensions, sound clips, hold music, etc. must be created outside of the editor before they can be added to the dial plan.
    Note:

If you already have an existing dial plan, you can clone it, make edits within that copy, and then try it out without altering your original dial plan or starting from nothing. This can be very useful when trying something new!

  1. Sign in to PBX Administration (classic) at https://my.jive.com/pbx.
  2. Select Dial Plans in the left navigation menu and then select Add Dial Plan.
Note: To clone an existing dial plan, select the Clone Icon icon located to the right of the dial plan name.
  3. The next available number will automatically populate the Extension; change this number as needed.
  4. Enter a Name for the dial plan.
  5. Select Admin Portal Checkmark Icon and then select the new dial plan to open the editor.
  6. Drag and drop nodes from the library to the workspace. Learn more about dial plan nodes.
  7. Drag and drop Dial Plan Next Node Icon to connect nodes in a call flow. Make sure each target icon has a destination or calls will be dropped.
  8. Complete the settings for each node.
  9. Select Save.
What to do next: To bring your dial plan to life, route a phone number to it or use it in other dial plans.
