Why was I launched into the webinar from the browser?

If you were launched into the webinar using your web browser instead of the desktop app, you are either joining a Webcast or Recorded webinar or your computer does not meet the desktop app's minimum requirements.

Any one of these scenarios can cause you to launch the webinar from the browser instead of the desktop app.

  • You're joining a Webcast or Recorded webinar. If the organizer scheduled a Webcast or Recorded webinar, attendees on a computer will automatically be taken to the browser-based app.
  • Your computer does not meet the desktop app's system requirements. If you are running Linux, Google Chrome OS, or an older version of Mac OS X, then your computer does not meet the system requirements for GoTo Webinar. But don't worry – we've got you covered! The browser experience is perfect for these unsupported operating systems because it make sure that you can still join in the fun!
  • You had an issue with the desktop app download. If GoTo Webinar detects that you've had trouble installing the desktop app, it will automatically launch you into session using the browser-based app instead. We're here to make sure that you don't miss a thing!
