Browser app

The browser-based app is a version of GoTo Webinar that is fully contained within a supported browser on your computer so no downloads are needed. This option is useful for those having trouble installing the desktop app or who are in locked-down environments where they cannot download software to their computers.

Attention: GoTo Webinar detects the best join method for you based on your operating system, browser, and the webinar type the organizer scheduled. That means you may be launched in the desktop app. The browser option is automatically launched in these situations:
  • If the organizer scheduled a Webcast or Recorded webinar, you will automatically be taken to the browser-based app. This is the only join option available for those webinar types.
  • If you are running Linux, Google Chrome OS, or an older version of Mac OS X, then your computer does not meet the system requirements for GoTo Webinar. To use the desktop or mobile app, please make any needed changes so that your desired device meets the minimum requirements.
  • If GoTo Webinar detects that you've had trouble installing the desktop app, it will automatically launch you into the session using the browser-based app instead.

Set up audio

All audio options are supported in the browser-based app, but their availability is dependent on the organizer's settings and the webinar type being used.

  1. From a Google/Edge-based/Firefox browser, join the desired session.

Result: Your device will automatically start connecting to the session through the Computer audio. If you are using a different browser, you will be prompted to dial in. Use the drop-down menu to select a different country if desired, then use a phone to dial in to the audio conference using the phone number, access code, and audio PIN provided by the host.

  2. When prompted, select Allow to give your browser permission to use your mic.
  3. Optional: If desired, you can switch to Phone call mode by selecting Settings > Audio > Phone call and then dialing the prompts as instructed. This option is only available for use on a Chrome/Edge-based browser.

Use features

The following are all of the optional ways that you can engage in your session. The visibility and use of these features are subject to the discretion of the host.

  1. To use your mic, you must first be unmuted by the organizer. These are the various mic icons you may encounter:
Your audio is currently connecting via Computer mode (mic and speakers).
You are unmuted (and connected via Computer mode).
You are muted (and connected via Computer mode).
You are currently set to Phone mode, but you have not yet entered your Audio PIN.
You are unmuted (and connected via Phone mode).
You are muted (and connected via Phone mode).
  2. To raise your hand, select the Hand icon.
  3. To ask a question, select Question icon in the toolbar, type your question, and then select Enter.

Result: When your question is answered by a staff member, it will appear in the Questions pane for everyone to see.

Troubleshooting: If you do not see this option, it is likely that the host disabled this feature. Raise your hand or contact your webinar organizer for further help.

  4. To view any available material, select the Handout icon.

  • Organizers cannot host webinar from a browser
