Format my .csv correctly

Learn how to encode your .csv files using the accepted UTF-8 format with some of the most commonly used programs.

Program Steps
Excel 2016
  1. Open your .csv file.
  2. Click File > Save As.
  3. From the file type drop-down menu, select CSV UTF-8 (Comma Delimited) (*.CSV).
  4. Click Save and then upload to your GoTo Connect account.
Google Sheets
  1. Open your .csv file.
  2. Click File > Download As.
  3. Select Comma-separated values (.csv, current sheet).
  4. Click Save and then upload to your GoTo Connect account.
Notepad++
  1. Create the file in Excel, making sure that the first entry contains a special character.
  2. Save the file as Unicode Text.
  3. Open the file in Notepad ++.
  4. Replace the tabs with commas.
  5. Click Encoding to change the Encoding to UTF-8.
  6. From the file type, select All Types, and then add .csv to the end of the name.
  7. Click Save and then upload to your GoTo Connect account.
Note: Do not open the file in Excel as you will lose the encoding.
