What should I do now that Dolby hardware is no longer supported?

In December 2020, Dolby announced they will no longer continue their line of rooms solutions and firmware development. As a result, GoTo is offering a trade-in program to help you transition to a supported solution. Although GoTo will continue to support Dolby hardware as InRoom Link-based devices, many Dolby features (such as starting a meeting, using the whiteboard) will be unsupported by January 1, 2022. On April 1, 2022 GoTo will officially discontinue GoTo Room for Dolby. After this date, GoTo Room may stop working on Dolby hardware.

Through the trade-in program, you may be eligible to replace your Dolby hardware with one from Poly. If you are interested, please reach out to your account manager or submit a request for a replacement kit.

Depending on your account and location, you will be able to trade in your current equipment for Poly Conference X50 or Poly Medium.

How do I sign up for the trade-in program?

Reach out to your account manager or a GoTo Room sales expert to see what replacement options are available to you. Your account manager will work with you to determine the best replacement option and hardware availability.

To start the trade-in process, please request a replacement kit here.

What are the requirements to be qualified for the trade-in program?

You must meet the following requirements:
    • The Dolby kit must have originally been purchased from GoTo.
    • The Dolby kit must have an active GoTo Room license.
    • The Dolby kit must be on the list of eligible trade-in hardware (Dolby Voice Huddle, Dolby Voice Conference, or Dolby Voice Boardroom).
    • You must have the complete hardware kit. No partial kits or individual components (cameras, touch panel, cables, etc.) are eligible.

Will my Dolby system still work?

You will be able to use your Dolby system to join and host meetings until April 1, 2022. After April, you will lose access to most of the in-session features including the ability to host meetings.

What happens if I don't trade in my Dolby hardware?

On April 1, 2022, the GoTo Room application will revert to Dolby’s native SIP protocol. You will lose access to the following in-session features:
    • Ability to host meetings.
    • In-session chatting.
    • Ability to share your screen during a meeting.
    • Ability to join a webinar or GoTo Connect session.
    • Whiteboard functionality.

On April 1, 2022, GoTo will officially discontinue GoTo Room for Dolby. After this date, GoTo Room may stop working on Dolby hardware.

What if I’m on a RaaS (Room as a Service) agreement?

If you purchased your Dolby hardware via RaaS, you are eligible for discount on a RaaS purchase. Please reach out to your account manager for more information.

Do I need to return the Dolby equipment?

If you have Dolby Voice Huddle, Dolby intends to recall all Huddle devices. Be on the lookout for additional details regarding the exchange of your Huddle device.

If you have Dolby Voice Room or Boardroom, you are not required to return the hardware if you participate in the GoTo/Dolby trade-in program. You can keep your hardware or recycle it at a local electronics recycling location.

What will happen to my GoTo Room subscription?

If you participate in the trade-in program, we will cancel your current GoTo Room subscription attached to your Dolby device and issue a new one for the same price.

What happens once I sign up for the trade-in program?

Once you receive your new kit, we will assign a new GoTo Room license to the new device. Once the license is activated, you’ll be able to join and host meetings in the same way.

If you have a Dolby Voice Huddle, you are required to return the device to Dolby – you will be sent details on how to do so soon. If you have a Dolby Voice Room or Boardroom, you can keep your hardware or recycle it at a local electronics recycling location.
