Internet connection fails when LogMeIn Hamachi is enabled
Windows uses Metrics to determine the order in which it attempts to access the internet. The LogMeIn Hamachi adapter may be auto assigned a lower Metric than the adapter that provides your internet connection.
Symptom
After installing Hamachi, you lose your Internet connection.
Resolution
You must manually assign the Metric. Here's how.
- Open the Control Panel.
- Select .
- On the left, select Change adapter settings.
- Right-click the LogMeIn Hamachi adapter and select Properties.
- Select .
- Select Advanced.
- At the bottom of the Advanced TCP/IP Settings window, uncheck the Automatic metric option, and enter 9000 in the Interface metric field.
The LogMeIn Hamachi adapter has now been assigned a high metric, which means that Windows will attempt to connect to it after all other adapters. If the problem persists, assign a lower metric to the adapter you want to use to connect to the Internet. To do this, follow the steps above, but enter 100 in the Interface metric field (step 7, above).
