Connection Wizard

The GoToAssist Connection Wizard is a series of tests that determine the ideal connection settings for your network. The Connection Wizard can store these optimal connection settings on your computer for use in a future support session.

Note: This tool is not supported for use on a Mac.

Run the GoToAssist Connection Wizard

  1. Download the GoToAssist Connection Wizard.Click Run, Yes or OK if prompted.
  2. Click Yes to enable GoToAssist Service support.

  3. If prompted by UAC, click Yes.
  4. Once the Connection Wizard opens, click Run Wizard to get started.

  5. The Wizard will automatically open a web browser and direct you to https://get.gotoassist.com. Click OK to continue, and the Wizard will automatically run the necessary tests. Click Next once it's finished.
  6. The Wizard will display the results of the tests and list any errors that were found. Click Finish to store the settings.

  7. Click I still have problems for further help from a member of Customer Care.

Run the Connection Wizard in advanced mode (advanced users only)

The Connection Wizard also offers advanced users and network administrators the ability to select the connection method that GoToAssist will use within your network.

  1. Follow Steps #1 - 3 above.
  2. On the first screen of the Connection Wizard, click Run the Connection Wizard in Advanced Mode.

  3. The Wizard will automatically open a web browser and direct you to https://get.gotoassist.com. Click OK to continue, then click Next once the connection validation has finished.

  4. The Wizard displays all verified connection methods. Select your preferred connection method, then click Validate the selected method. If you wish to leave your connection settings unchanged, click Display the connection report (no settings will be stored).
    Note: For detailed information on the GoToAssist data server IP addresses that the Wizard attempts to reach, please consult our IP range document.

  5. The Wizard will automatically run the necessary tests through your selected connection method. Once finished, you can choose one of the following options:
    • Validate another connection method
    • Restart the Connection Wizard
    • Store this connection method for use with GoToAssist
    • Do not store connection settings

Configure advanced settings for the Connection Wizard (advanced users only)

The Connection Wizard also offers advanced users and network administrators customizable options that control how GoToAssist manages connections within your network.

  1. Follow Steps #1 - 3 above.
  2. On the first screen of the Connection Wizard, click Configure advanced settings for the Connection Wizard.

  3. Select your desired configuration parameters. If you wish to communicate through a proxy address, check the box for "Add Proxy" then fill in the Address and Port fields. Click Next when finished.

  4. On the Advanced Settings window, you can check the box(es) for "Test DNS name resolution" and/or" Test Address Ranges". Click Next when finished.

  5. The Wizard will automatically open a web browser and direct you to https://get.gotoassist.com. Click OK to continue, then click Next once the connection validation has finished.

  6. The Wizard displays all verified connection methods. Select your preferred connection method, then click Validate the selected method. If you wish to leave your connection settings unchanged, click Display the connection report (no settings will be stored).

  7. The Wizard will automatically run the necessary tests through your selected connection method. Once finished, you can choose one of the following options:
