Connect to Audio Using Computer Mic and Speakers

You can connect to the session audio over the internet (VoIP), which allows you to use a microphone and speakers plugged into your computer or mobile device. You can also dial in with your telephone. Audio quality may vary depending on the audio software, hardware, operating system and Internet connection being used. We recommend using a USB headset plugged directly into the computer and placing the microphone away from other speakers or devices to avoid noise feedback.

Connect from the desktop app

  1. Ensure that your mic and speakers are properly plugged in to your computer. We recommend using a USB headset plugged directly into the computer.
  2. Select Computer audio as follows:

    • Before a session launches, select the Computer audio option in the pre-session "Choose audio mode" window and then select OK. In this window, you can select which audio device can be used for microphone and speakers, test your speakers and check volume meters. Please note that attendees will join in listen-only mode.
    • While in session, expand the Audio tab at the top of the Control Panel and select Computer audio.
    Note: If you do not want to see those pre-session "Choose audio mode" windows, you can select the Don't show again box. This will remember your audio option and set it as the default for future sessions.

Connect from the Instant Join app

Note: Only attendees running Google Chrome can use mic and speakers (VoIP). Attendees using any other web browser will need to dial in to the audio conference via phone.
  1. Ensure that your mic and speakers are properly plugged in to your computer. We recommend using a USB headset plugged directly into the computer.
  2. The first time you connect to a session, you will be prompted to allow the app to access your mic and speakers. Be sure to click Allow.
  3. Click the Settings icon in the toolbar.
  4. In the Audio tab, select Computer audio.
  5. You can also specify which audio devices are used as your mic and speakers.

    • To specify your microphone device, click the Camera icon in your browsers address bar and use the drop-down menu in the window.
    • To specify the speakers device, use your computer's Device Manager.

Connect from the iOS app

We recommend using headphones with a speaker when using Internet mode with mobile apps.
  1. Tap Audio in the lower toolbar.
  2. Tap Connect to the Internet Call or Switch to the Internet Call (if you are already connected via phone call).

Connect from the Android app

  1. Tap the Options icon in the upper toolbar.
  2. Tap Audio options.
  3. On the Audio screen, tap Connect to Internet audio.
