Send text and chat messages

Attention: Carriers are now blocking all unregistered outbound SMS per industry regulations to combat spam. Registration is mandatory for all providers, not just GoTo Connect. Register now to restore or maintain SMS service. GoTo Connect cannot expedite carrier reviews.

Send internal chat messages, text messages, and MMS. Texting is only available in the US, Canada, UK and Australia.

To send text messages, a system admin must enable this feature on your phone number.
Note: Not all phone numbers support this capability because of the phone number's carrier. You can email numbers@logmein.com to get help switching your phone number to a different carrier.

Desktop app or web

  1. Sign in to the desktop or web app.
  2. From the left navigation menu, select Messaging > Create.
  3. Choose what type of message you'd like to send:
    • Text message: Under Text message, search for a contact's name or number and then select a contact from the results. You can create a group text by adding up to 10 contacts.
      Note: If you have multiple phone numbers assigned to you, select the one you’d like to use in Send from above the new message field.
    • Direct chat(internal chat): Under Direct chat, search for a contact's name or extension and then select a contact from the results.
    • Team chat: Enter a name for the team chat and then select Create. Select Add User Icon to add members to the team chat.
  4. At the bottom, type your new message, and then press enter on your keyboard.
    Note: You cannot delete chat or team chat messages.
  5. Select GoTo Attach Icon to attach a file or image to the message. Learn about supported file types and file size restrictions here.
What to do next: When sending a text message, if you receive a message saying "not delivered," select the information icon to the left for more information. Learn more about SMS errors.

Mobile app

  1. Sign in to the GoTo mobile app.
  2. From Messages, select + and then choose what type of message you'd like to send:
    • Send text message: From Send text message, search for a contact's name or number and then select a contact from the results. You can create a group text by adding up to 10 contacts.
    • Send a direct chat(internal chat): From Send a direct chat chat, search for a contact's name or extension and then select a contact from the results.
    • Create a private channel: Enter a name for the channel and then select Create. Select the info icon in the top right and then select Add members to add members to the channel.
    Tip: You can also send a text message from a contact card. Go to Contacts, select a contact, and then select .
  3. At the bottom, type your new message, and then select Send Icon.
  4. Optional: Select + to take a picture and attach an image or file to a text, direct chat, or channel message. Learn about supported file types and file size restrictions here.
