Share my screen

Presenters can share their screen to attendees during a meeting at any point. You can choose to share your entire screen or a single application.

Desktop app or web

Before you begin: Make sure you have allowed GoTo Meeting access permission as needed.
  1. Start or join a meeting.
  2. Select Share.
  3. Select the desired screen or app and then select Share again.
    Tip: From the preview window, you can choose if you want to include the media sound (browser or Windows desktop only), include the GoTo interface, or optimize for video (this setting maintains the video frame rate by decreasing the resolution if necessary) where applicable before sharing.

    Troubleshooting: Mac presenters may notice PowerPoint closing out of full screen mode when they click anywhere within the GoTo Meeting Control Panel. Please update your PowerPoint slide show setting to prevent this from happening by selecting Slide Show > Set Up Slide Show and then under Show Type, select Browsed by an individual (window) > OK.

  4. To pause or resume your screen, select the arrow by Share and then select Pause sharing or Resume sharing.
  5. To share a different screen, select New by the preview.
    Tip: If you need additional screens displayed, you can use a third-party screen mirroring tool (e.g., AirPlay for iOS, Reflector, or Vysor for Android) to display your phone screen on your computer. Once mirrored, your phone screen will appear as part of your computer screen for participants to see in addition to the computer screen originally shared.
  6. To draw on your screen for everyone to see, switch to flexible layout mode and then select Drawing Tools icon. Select the desired pen color and transparency from the menu, and then use the mouse to annotate on the shared screen.
    Tip: Enable Fade out drawings to automatically remove annotation after some time.
    Important: Currently only the active presenter on the desktop app can use drawing tools. To have attendees use the drawing tools, presenters need to grant an attendee remote control access or screen sharing permissions. See Use remote control for help. You also need to be on the desktop app in flexible layout mode to use this feature.
  7. To stop screen sharing, select Share again.
  8. To make someone else the active presenter, select their name from the People pane and then select Make Presenter > Yes.
What to do next: When you begin screen sharing, a You're sharing your screen tile will appear in the GoTo app which helps you confirm that others are seeing what you want them to see. Your camera filter must be set to Everyone in order to see this tile. If you are not in Presenter mode, you can pin the tile so it is enlarged on your screen. If you are on an iPad, use the Audience View toggle to show/ hide the preview.

Mobile app

If you joined a password-protected meeting, you cannot share your screen at this time. Please join from a computer if you need to share content.
  1. Open the GoTo mobile app on your device.
  2. Start or join a meeting.
  3. Tap More > Share > Start now (Android) or Start Broadcast (iOS).
  4. To stop sharing your screen, tap Stop Screen Sharing or Stop Broadcast.
If you have trouble sharing from your iOS, try the following steps:
  • From your device settings, make sure you have allowed screen recording fo rthe GoTo app.
  • Check to make sure you're not connected to an external display such as AirPlay. If you are, switch the external display back to iPhone or iPad.
