How do I add a password to my meeting?

Organizers can choose to password protect their meetings for additional privacy. Once password-protected, attendees will need to enter a secret password of your choosing to join the meeting.

Note that only local recording is available for password-protected meetings!

Remember that you must send the password to your participants or they won't be able to enter the meeting. For security reasons, GoToMeeting does not send the password for you.

Add a password from the web

  1. Schedule a new meeting or edit an existing one.
  2. In the More tab, check the "Require a meeting password" box.
  3. Click Save.

Note: The default password is ##meetingPassword. This can be changed in the meeting invite you send to attendees and when you start the meeting.

  4. Later when you start the meeting, you will be prompted to enter the meeting password that you sent to attendees. Once you enter it and click Join the Meeting, your meeting will launch!

Note: Make sure the password matches what you added in the meeting invite. If you did not send the password to attendees beforehand, please do so via email, chat, etc. so they can join the meeting.

Add a password from the desktop app

  1. Schedule a new meeting or edit an existing one.
  2. In the Password tab, check the "Require a meeting password" box.
  3. Enter whatever password you would like. When you invite others to the meeting, be sure to inform them of the secret password that you intend to set. GoToMeeting will not automatically send it for them, or remember it for you.

Note: If you are editing a formerly scheduled meeting from the desktop app, you will not be able to set the password until you launch the meeting.

  4. Click Save when done.

Add a password from the iOS app

  1. Schedule a new meeting or edit an existing one.
  2. At the bottom of the scheduling screen, use the "Password" field to enter your desired password. Then tap Done.
  3. When you invite others to the meeting, be sure to inform them of the secret password that you intend to set. GoToMeeting will not automatically send it for them, or remember it for you.
