How do I test my mic and speakers before the meeting? (Classic)

You can test your microphone and speakers before the meeting to ensure that you can use those devices to connect to audio.

I'm joining from the desktop app.

  1. Join the meeting and ensure that Computer is selected.
  2. In the Computer tab, there are icons for your microphone and speakers .
  3. To test your microphone, hover over the Mic icon. You will see a "Your microphone device is ready to use" message.
    • Use the drop-down menu to select a different microphone.
    • If you do not see the microphone device that you are trying to use, try unplugging and plugging it back in.
  4. To test your speakers, click the Speaker icon. You will hear a test sound play.
    • Use the drop-down menu to select a different speaker.
    • If you do not see the speaker device that you are trying to use, try unplugging and plugging it back in.
    • If you do not hear the test sound, try turning up the volume of your speakers.

I'm joining from the browser.

  1. Join the meeting. When prompted, click Use computer audio.
  2. On the Choose mic & speakers screen, there are separate icons for your microphone and speakers.
  3. To test your microphone, speak into the mic. If the volume meter shows green bars, then it is properly picking up sound.
    • Use the drop-down menu to select a different microphone.
    • If you do not see the microphone that you are trying to use, try unplugging and plugging it back in.
  4. To test your speakers, click Test your sound. If you hear the test audio clip, then it is properly emitting sound.
    • Use the drop-down menu to select a different speaker.
    • If you do not see the speaker that you are trying to use, try unplugging and plugging it back in.
