How do I change my webcam background?

For more privacy during meetings or for a more professional look, change your camera background using our built-in Virtual Background feature or the third-party ChromaCam option.

Use Virtual Background

Change your camera background with one provided in the GoTo app or using a custom one. You can select a virtual background before joining a session or after you've already joined.

Note: If you do not see the option to change your background option, please reach out to your account admin.

Note: You can upload and store up to 10 PNG, JPG, and JPEG files. There is no size limitation, but we recommend resizing the image to the aspect ratio of your camera. If you aren't sure what the aspect ratio is, upload an image with a minimum resolution of 1280x720 pixels (720p).
  1. Start or join a meeting.
    Fastpath: If you are on the Camera preview screen, select Virtual Background icon and then select the desired filter/background before starting or joining the session.
  2. From Settings icon > Camera > Virtual Background, select the desired filter/background or upload a custom background using the Plus tile.
  3. Select Share when you are ready.

Use ChromaCam

You can customize, replace, or blur your webcam background with ChromaCam, a free third-party service.

Notice: This article addresses the new GoTo app experience. View How do I change my webcam background using ChromaCam in GoTo Meeting? (Classic) for the classic experience.
We recommend testing your camera before the session to choose your preferred background or filter.
  1. Start or join a meeting.
  2. Select Settings icon in the top menu then Camera.
  3. From the Camera drop-down menu, select ChromaCam.

    Result: A ChromaCam window will open. If you have not signed in before, select Sign in with GoTo Meeting to access ChromaCam Pro features. Your webcam background will automatically blur. In ChromaCam, change the blur level, choose other filters, or upload your own customized background.

  4. When you're ready to start sharing, select Share.
