Share your screen on older iOS devices

Share your screen on pre-iOS 11 devices by mirroring your display to your PC.

Mirror your iOS device to your PC using either:
  • Any PC - AirPlay with a third-party receiver. For example, AirServer or Reflector. See Use AirPlay with a third-party receiver.
  • Mac only - A USB cable and QuickTime Player. See Mirror your iOS device to your Mac.

Use AirPlay with a third-party receiver

Mirror your iOS device's screen to your PC.

Before you begin:
  • Make sure your device and computer are either on the same wireless network or connected via Bluetooth
  • You need a third-party receiver. For example, AirServer or Reflector
AirPlay receivers like AirServer or Reflector run on a Mac or Windows PC and create a receiver similar to an Apple TV.
  1. Connect your iOS device to the third-party receiver:
    1. Open your iOS device's Control Center.
Swipe from the bottom of your device's screen to open the Control Center.
    2. In the Control Center tap the AirPlay button.
    3. Select your computer from the list and turn Mirroring on.

Result: Your PC starts mirroring your iOS device's screen.

  2. On your PC start a join.me meeting and share either:
    • The whole screen of your PC
    • The window in which the third-party receiver app runs

Results: Your meeting participants see everything you do on your iPhone or iPad.

Mirror your iOS device to your Mac

Use a USB cable to mirror your iOS device's screen to your Mac.

Before you begin: Make sure you're running Yosemite Mac OS X (or newer) and iOS 8 (or newer).
  1. Use a USB cable to connect your iPhone or iPad to your Mac.
  2. On your Mac, start QuickTime Player.
  3. Select File > New Movie Recording > Record.
  4. In the Record menu select your iOS device's camera.
  5. Start your join.me meeting and share from your Mac screen or the QuickTime Player window.

Results: Your meeting participants see everything you do on your iPhone or iPad.
