Where is the Outlook plugin?
Follow these instructions if the join.me for Outlook plugin is not available on the Home tab in Outlook after installation.
Symptom
The join.me for Outlook plugin is not visible or available on the Home tab in Outlook after installation.
Resolution
- Make sure you have Outlook 2010 or above and your operating system is Windows Vista or above.
- Make sure that the join.me plugin is not among the Disabled Items within Outlook. Here's how:
- In Outlook, select .
- At the bottom of the page under Manage, select Disabled Items and click Go.
A list of disabled items is displayed.
- If join.me for Outlook or "joinme.addinmodule" is listed, select it and click Enable.
- Make sure that the join.me for Outlook plugin is enabled among the COM Add-ins. Here's how:
- In Outlook, select .
- At the bottom of the page under Manage, select COM Add-ins and click Go.
A list of COM Add-ins is displayed.
- Make sure join.me for Outlook is selected (has a check mark).
- Click OK.
Alternate Resolution: Install with administrator rights
- Prepare to install. Here's how:
- Uninstall all previous versions of join.me for Outlook.
- Close Outlook.
- Open the command prompt as an Administrator and navigate to the installer. Here's how:
- Start a Command Prompt as an Administrator as explained here by Microsoft.
- Navigate to the folder containing the Outlook installer (.exe or .msi):
If the installer's path contains spaces, use quotation marks:cd C:\Users\myUserName\Downloads
cd "C:\Users\myUserName\My Folder"
- Press Enter.
- Type in the installer file name (.exe or .msi), then add a space and type PRIVILEGES="admin" (case sensitive).
join.me.outlookplugin.exe PRIVILEGES="admin" join.me.outlookplugin.msi PRIVILEGES="admin"
- Complete the installation. Here's how:
- Press Enter. The Install process begins with elevated privileges.
- Follow on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- Start Outlook.
