What are roles and why am I being switched from permissions?
You will soon be able to try our new GoTo Admin experience, which will require a transition from our classic permission-based administration experience to a role-based administration experience over the next month. Learn how roles work and what this change will mean for you.
Why is this changing and what does this change mean for me?
As mentioned above, we are building a new unified administrative experience for our customers that will replace the classic administration portal you currently use. This new experience allows for the consolidated management of multiple products and allows you to easily add and remove licenses for those various products as needed. Of necessity, this new experience is built on a role-based concept for individual users rather than single permissions that are assigned to users or groups. As we prepare your account to try this new admin experience, we will be transitioning your permissions over to the role-based model within the next month. No permissions will be lost. All of your users and user groups current general permissions will be replaced with the corresponding role so that there is a seamless experience for the users without any disruptions.
What are roles?
- Super Admin: User has all system permissions.
- Admin: User has all system permissions except the ability to assign or manage other admins. This role is synonymous with the previous "Configure PBX" permission in legacy admin.
- Member: User does not have any system permissions and cannot access the admin portal. They are an end user only.
All other permissions outside of Super Admin and Admin/Configure PBX that you have assigned to a user or user group will appear as [Migrated] followed by the name of the permission(s). For example, if a user has the View Reports and Access Call Recordings permissions, the role will display as "[Migrated] View Reports, Access Call Recordings". If another user has the View Invoices permission in addition to the other two permissions, there will be a separate "[Migrated] View Invoices, View Reports, Access Call Recordings" role created. Once your account has been switched over to Roles, you will have the ability to create custom roles as well as edit or delete the migrated roles.
What permissions are available?
- Super Administrator: User has full access to all account permissions.
- Configure PBX: Same as current permissions in classic admin.
- Manage licenses: Users can assign and remove product licenses.
- Manage users: Users can add, delete, and edit user details.
- Manage user settings: Users can edit user product settings.
- Manage user groups: Users can add, delete, and edit user groups.
- View invoices: User can view invoices in the billing portal.
- Pay invoices: User can pay invoices in the billing portal.
- Access call recordings: User can view, listen, and export call recordings.
What if I don't want to switch to roles?
