Explore the phone page in the GoTo app

From the phone page of the GoTo app, you can access various features such as the softphone to make and receive calls, your voicemail box, and call history. Select your endpoint below to learn how to use this page.

Desktop or web app

  1. Sign in to the desktop or web app.
  2. From the left navigation menu, select Phone iconPhone.
  3. Expand the sections below to learn more about your available options.

Dialpad

From Dial, you can:
  • Select the desired phone number to use as the outbound caller ID from the Calling from drop-down menu (only applicable if you have multiple lines).
    • A system admin must enable outbound caller ID selection on your phone numbers to change your outgoing caller ID.
  • Place a call by either dialing the number directly with the keypad or using the search bar to select from your saved contacts.
  • Select Softphone window icon to change your preferences for how the softphone tool appears such as docking the window and seeing either a mini or expanded version.
  • Select Softphone settings icon to change your audio and phone window settings, such as the default microphone and speaker it will use, or the placement of the softphone window in relation to other screens.
During a call, you can:
  • Mute/unmute
  • Transfer the call
  • Dial in an additional caller
  • Place the current call on hold
  • Use speaker mode
  • End the call

Calls

From Calls, you can view your call history with various details immediately available such as the type of call made, the number or contact involved, the duration of the call, and the time it took place.

If you select a specific entry, additional details and tools become available such as the ability to call or message them (pending SMS permissions), or create/edit their contact information.

Voicemail

From Voicemail, you can see a list of all of your voicemails.

Hover over or select an entry to play or delete the voicemail, call or message (pending SMS permissions) the caller back, or mark the message as read/unread. Selecting the entry opens additional options to create/edit their contact information.

Fax

When enabled, you can receive, manage, and share virtual faxes from your mobile app. Faxes will be stored for a maximum of 90 days in the app, however, larger files over 10MB will be deleted after 21 days.

Available for United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Australia, France, Spain, and Austria. Virtual faxing is supported internationally to 50+ countries for free, excluding Mexico and Brazil.

Before you begin: To use this section of your mobile app, your account admin will need to have:
  • Set up fax storage in the system settings
  • Created a virtual fax
  • Granted you virtual fax permissions
Select the desired fax entry and then choose what you want to do:
Task Instructions
Preview a fax Select the thumbnail to open a preview. Only the first page of the fax is included in the preview.
Download a fax Select Download fax icon. The fax will be automatically saved to your downloads folder.
Mark a fax as read Select Read fax icon.
Tip: You can select the icon again to mark as unread.
Delete a fax Select Delete icon > Delete to confirm.
Note: Only available if the delete permission has been enabled by an admin.
Send a fax Watch video
  1. Select the down arrow next to Dial and then select New fax.
  2. Choose the fax number to send the fax From.
  3. Search for a contact's name or enter a fax number from To.
    Note: Fax numbers must be formatted as “X-XXX-XXX-XXXX” (e.g.: for USA use +1-XXX-XXX-XXXX).
  4. Optional: To include a cover page, select the box next to Use cover page.
  5. Enter the fax Subject and Notes (if applicable) and then select Next.
    Note: You don't need to add the access code while sending a fax from the app.
  6. Drag and drop files or select Browse files and then select Next.
    1. Supported file types: .pdf, .rtf, .txt, .jpg, .png, .tiff, .bmp, .gif, .doc, .docx, .ppt, .pptx, .xls, .xlsx.
    2. Maximum of 40MB for all attached files. You can send up to 500 pages, though the quality will be reduced after 150 pages.
  7. Review the fax details and then select Send.
What to do next: You will receive an email in the case of transmission failures. Email communications will be sent from @goto.com, @jive.com or @jivecommunications.com. Please ensure these domains are allowed so that emails are not automatically filtered as spam.

Favorites

Expand Favorites to see a list of your contacts designated as favorites.

Recent activity

Expand Recent activity to see a list of your latest call activity.

Phone Dial out icon

  1. From the desktop or web app, select Phone from the left navigation menu.
  2. Select Line selector from the bottom left.
  3. Choose your preferred line and phone to use for all calls.

Mobile app

  1. Sign in to the mobile app.
  2. From the bottom navigation menu, select Phone.
  3. Expand the sections below to learn more about your available options.

Calls

Select the desired fax entry and then choose what you want to do:
Task Instructions
Share a fax Select Mobile Fax Options Icon > Share, and then choose your desired share option.
Download a fax Select Mobile Fax Options Icon > Download, and then choose where to save your downloaded fax.
View details of a fax Select Mobile Fax Options Icon > View Details.
Delete a fax Select Mobile Fax Options Icon > Delete > Delete.
Note: Only available if the delete permission has been enabled by an admin.

Dialpad

  • Select the desired line in the From drop-down menu (only applicable if you have multiple lines)
    • A system admin must enable outbound caller ID selection on your phone numbers to change your outgoing caller ID.
  • Place a call by either dialing the number directly with the keypad or selecting Contacts icon to search through and select from your contacts

During a call, you can:
  • Mute/unmute
  • Transfer the call
  • Dial in an additional caller
  • Place the current call on hold
  • Use speaker mode
  • End the call
