Set Up Shared Inbox with Instagram (Customer Engagement)

Attention: Carriers are now blocking all unregistered outbound SMS per industry regulations to combat spam. Registration is mandatory for all providers, not just GoTo Connect. Register now to restore or maintain SMS service. GoTo Connect cannot expedite carrier reviews.

Connect your shared inbox to Instagram to reach more customers, gather rich data for analysis and growth, and optimize performance by enabling conversations to be handled in one central place

Before you begin: You must be set up as a user and be assigned the admin role.
Make sure you have the following set up first. Visit Facebook or Instagram if you need help with your account setup, login, or pages.
  • A Facebook account with at least one business page
  • An Instagram business account connected to a Facebook page
  1. Sign in to our GoTo desktop/ web app.
  2. Go to Engage > Shared Inbox > Channels > Facebook & Instagram. Then select Connect Account.
Note: If you have previously linked Facebook/Instagram to your shared inbox, it will say Manage.
  3. From the pop-up window:
    1. Sign in to Facebook if you are setting this up for the first time. Otherwise, select Edit Settings.
    2. Select the desired Instagram account. If you see Link Account instead of a list of pages, it's because you do not have a business account or it has not been connected to a Facebook page. Both steps need to be done before you can continue.
    3. Select the page(s) you want to connect with your shared inbox. If you see Create a page instead of a list of pages, it's because you do not have a Facebook page available. One will need to be created before you can continue.
    4. Select Next.
    5. Make sure all permissions are enabled. Removing any permission may break the integration.
    6. Select Done > OK.

Result: This will take you back to your shared inbox settings page in the GoTo app. If it does not happen automatically, refresh the app to load the list of Facebook pages.

  4. From Facebook Pages, enable a page to make it available in the Shared Inbox.
Note: You can connect multiple pages to the shared inbox.
  5. Select Save when you are finished.
What to do next: Ensure your agents know how to use the shared inbox to respond to incoming messages from Instagram.
