Example of a paging system setup

Before you begin: This article assumes you've already set up your paging realms and profiles.
Alpine School District is comprised of an Elementary School, Jr. High School, and High School. Each principal needs to broadcast announcements (pages) to the hallways, cafeteria, or classrooms by dialing the appropriate zone number from their phone. Complete the following for each school.

Paging Profile Defines which zones a device can send and/or receive pages from
Transmit Device Device that sends pages
Subscribe Device Device that receives pages, sometimes a speaker (IP Amplifier)
  1. Set the Paging Realm to the school's name.
  2. Assign the zones as follows:
    • Zone 01 = Hallways
    • Zone 02 = Cafeteria
    • Zone 03 = Classrooms
    Multicast Paging Example Paging Realm=School Name
  3. Create a Paging Profile called Hallway Devices.
  4. Select the school name as the Paging Realm for that profile.
  5. Set the following permissions and select Save:Multicast Paging Example Paging Profile=Hallway Devices
    Zone Membership Setting
    01 Hallways Subscribe only
    02 Cafeteria No subscribe or transmit
    03 Classrooms No subscribe or transmit
  6. Create a Paging Profile called Cafeteria Devices.
  7. Select the school name as the Paging Realm for that profile.
  8. Set the following permissions and select Save:Multicast Paging Example Paging Profile = Cafeteria Devices
    Zone Setting
    01 Hallways No subscribe or transmit
    02 Cafeteria Subscribe only
    03 Classrooms No subscribe or transmit
  9. Create a Paging Profile called Classroom Devices.
  10. Select the school name as the Paging Realm for that profile.
  11. Set the following permissions and select Save:Multicast Paging Example Paging Profile=Classroom Devices
    Zone Setting
    01 Hallways No subscribe or transmit
    02 Cafeteria No subscribe or transmit
    03 Classrooms Subscribe only
  12. Create a Paging Profile called Principal's Device.
  13. Select the school name as the Paging Realm for that profile.
  14. Set the following permissions and select Save:Multicast Paging Example Paging Profile=Principals Device
    Zone Setting
    01 Hallways Transmit only
    02 Cafeteria Transmit only
    03 Classrooms Transmit only
What to do next: Each device used in multicast paging will need its respective paging profile assigned. Users that have the same paging permissions can share a single paging profile by assigning the that paging profile to each of their devices.
