Create a text campaign

Attention: Carriers are now blocking all unregistered outbound SMS per industry regulations to combat spam. Registration is mandatory for all providers, not just GoTo Connect. Register now to restore or maintain SMS service. GoTo Connect cannot expedite carrier reviews.

Create SMS and MMS campaigns to send custom messages customers in bulk. This feature may not be available with your plan.

Before you begin:
  • You must be set up as a user with the supervisor or manager role, depending on your product.
  • An inbox is required to create a campaign. We recommend customizing your settings beforehand as well.
Text campaigns require a phone number. You can use a phone number in your account, order a new phone number, or port a phone number from a previous carrier to use with your campaign.

  1. Sign in to the desktop or web app.
  2. From Inbox > New campaign. Edit the name at any time as desired.
  3. From Write your message, use the From drop-down menu to select the phone number you want to use with this campaign, and then craft your message.
    Note: Messages longer than 160 characters will be split into multiple messages.
  4. Customize your campaign with any of the following options:
    Options Steps
    Templates Select Templates Icon to use an existing template or save your current message as a template for future use.
    Links Select URL Link Icon to add URL links to your text campaigns and decide how they are displayed/presented to recipients. Enable Shorten link to track clicks to convert them into shorter links for click metrics.
    Variables Select Variables Icon to use contact and company variables for personalization.
    Surveys Select Survey Icon to choose an existing survey to use.
    Attachments Select Paperclip Attachment Icon to add MMS files into your campaign message.
    Note: You can send up to 10 files in a single message with a maximum size of 2MB per message.
    Emojis Select Emoji Icon to access emojis.
  5. Optional: If you have not already enabled the opt-out message or prepend a company name settings, you will be prompted with the option to enable these now.
  6. Select Next.
  7. From Pick your recipients, select the group(s) or segment(s), contacts, or numbers you would like to send the campaign to.
    Note: The maximum number of contacts allowed per campaign depends on your plan. If you enter numbers, you will need to separate them by line or comma. Hit Enter/Return to save.
  8. Select Next.
  9. From Finalize your campaign, schedule when you want your campaign to be sent (options depend on your plan) and customize additional settings for skipping contacts with open conversations or only sending during normal hours if desired.
  10. Select Next.
  11. From Review and send campaign, verify the details are accurate, go back as needed to make corrections, and then select Send campaign/Schedule campaign when you are ready.
    Tip: Not ready to finalize things? Select Save draft to save your progress. You can find your draft in Inbox > Campaigns.
What to do next: From Inbox > Campaigns, select the desired campaign to view it's performance and details on the text campaign overview page. All recipient responses will be available to interact with in the Inbox.
