How do I manage my dial plans?

Update the settings on a dial plan as needed.
Important: Please excuse our mess while we improve your admin experience! We are in the process of migrating all accounts to the new GoTo Admin. Choose your current admin experience for the applicable steps on this topic.

GoTo Admin

If you're an admin who signs in at https://admin.goto.com, these steps are for you.

Manage dial plans

Before you begin: You must be assigned an Admin or Super admin role to perform this task.
  1. Sign in to GoTo Admin.
  2. From Phone system > Call routes > Dial plans, find the dial plan that needs changes made.
  3. Hover over the dial plan to choose what you want to do:
    Action How-to
    Add or Import Select the + Add dial plan button on the top-right. For additional detailed steps, refer to How do I create a dial plan?
    Clone Hover over a dial plan and select Clone Icon to make a copy of the dial plan.
    Tip: If you already have an existing dial plan, you can clone it, make edits within that copy, and then try it out without altering your original dial plan or starting from nothing. This can be very useful when trying something new!
    Edit Hover over a dial plan and select Edit Icon to make changes to the name or extension number of the dial plan.

    You can also edit the name or extension from within the dial plan editor by selecting the dial plan name in the top-center navigation menu.

    Export Hover over a dial plan and select Download Icon to download the dial plan as an .xml file.
    Delete Hover over a dial plan and select Trash Can Icon to delete the dial plan.

PBX Administration (classic)

If you're an admin who signs in at https://my.jive.com/pbx, these steps are for you.

Import/export a dial plan

Export a dial plan to allow you to download an .xml of your dial plan and then upload it into another phone system. This saves you from having to recreate a dial plan multiple times for each system and can be used to backup a dial plan before you make changes to it.

Attention: There is a new version of this visual dial plan editor in GoTo Admin with many new and improved features! Even if your account uses PBX Administration (classic) you can still use the new and improved dial plan editor by signing in with your admin credentials at http://admin.goto.com and selecting Phone system > Dial plans.

Export a dial plan

  1. Sign in to PBX Administration (classic) at https://my.jive.com/pbx.
  2. Select Dial Plans in the left navigation menu and then select Export Icon for the dial plan you would like to export.

Import a dial plan

  1. Sign in to PBX Administration (classic) at https://my.jive.com/pbx.
  2. Select Dial Plans in the left navigation menu and then select Import Dial Plan.
  3. Choose the exported dial plan (.xml) from your computer.

    Result:

    • The imported dial plan will appear with the same name, followed by “new version”. You can select Edit Icon to change the name.
    • Proprietary options, like sound clips, are removed so only the nodes and connections remain once imported.

Use a sound clip in a dial plan

Play a custom message to your callers.

Before you begin:

  1. Sign in to PBX Administration (classic) at https://my.jive.com/pbx.
  2. Select Dial Plans in the left navigation menu and then choose the dial plan you want to edit.

    Result: The dial plan editor will launch in a separate window.

  3. Drag and drop the Play Sound Clip node in the library to the desired spot on the workspace.
  4. Drag and drop Target Icon of the previous node to the left side of the Play Sound Clip node, connecting the nodes to prevent dropped calls.
  5. Complete the following setting(s):
    Setting Description
    Choose… Select the sound clip that will be used.
    Next Node Connects nodes to create a call flow.
  6. Continue to build the call flow.
  7. Select Save.
