How do I add an extension?
Use extensions to help with call management by adding dial plans, lines (known as direct extensions), ring groups, virtual faxes, shared voicemail boxes, conferences bridges, and more.
A dial plan can be created from the
Extensions overview but for detailed steps, refer to

GoTo Admin
If you're an admin who signs in at https://admin.goto.com, these steps are for you.
Add an extension
Before you begin: You must be assigned an Admin or Super admin
role to perform this task.
What to do next: To bring your new extension to life,
route a phone number to it or use it in a dial plan.
PBX Administration (classic)
If you're an admin who signs in at https://my.jive.com/pbx, these steps are for you.
Create a conference bridge
Create a conference bridge to meet with up to 20 participants on a call at once.
- Sign in to PBX Administration (classic) at https://my.jive.com/pbx.
- Choose Conference Bridges in the left navigation menu and then select Add Conference Bridge.
- The next available number will automatically populate the Extension; change this number as needed.
- Enter a Name for the conference bridge.
- Select and then select the new conference bridge to configure its settings.
What to do next: To bring your conference bridge to life,
route a phone number to it or
use it in a dial plan.
Create a line
Create a line to ring a user's phone. A voicemail box is automatically created for each line.
Before you begin:
You must be assigned the Admin or Super admin role to perform this task.
- Sign in to PBX Administration (classic) at https://my.jive.com/pbx.
- Select Lines in the left sidebar and then select Add Line.
- The next available number will automatically populate the Extension; change this number as needed.
- Enter a Name for the line.
- Select and then select the new line to configure its settings.
What to do next: To bring your line to life,
customize your voicemail greeting and
settings and then
route a phone number to it or
use it in a dial plan.
Tip: You can assign a line to multiple phones and a phone can have more than one line assignment.
Create a ring group
Create a ring group to call multiple lines and phone numbers at once. A voicemail box is automatically created for each ring group.

customize your voicemail greeting and
settings and then
route a phone number to it or
use it in a dial plan.
Create a shared voicemail
Create a shared voicemail box to allow multiple users to check a single box.
Before you begin:
You must be assigned the Admin or Super admin role to perform this task.
- Sign in to PBX Administration (classic) at https://my.jive.com/pbx.
- Select Shared Voicemail Boxes in the left navigation menu, and then select Add Shared Voicemail Box.
- The next available number will automatically populate the Extension; change this number as needed.
- Enter a Name for the shared voicemail box.
- Select and then select the new shared voicemail box to configure its settings.
What to do next: To bring your shared voicemail to life,
route a phone number to it,
use it in a dial plan, or
assign it as a line on a phone for voicemail notifications.
Create a virtual fax machine
Create as many virtual fax machines as you need to allow your organization to send and receive faxes through email. Not available in Brazil and Mexico.
Before you begin:
You must be assigned the Admin or Super admin role to perform this task.
- Sign in to PBX Administration (classic) at https://my.jive.com/pbx.
- Select Virtual Fax Machines in the left sidebar and then select Add Virtual Fax Machine.
- The next available number will automatically populate the Extension; change this number as needed.
- Enter a Name for the virtual fax machine.
- Select and then select the new virtual fax machine to configure its settings.
What to do next: To bring your virtual fax machine to life,
route a phone number to it,
enable it on a line, or
use it in a dial plan.
