How do I create a channel?

Create a channel with other members in your organization to send chat messages.

Choose your device:

Desktop app or web

  1. Open the GoTo desktop app on your computer or sign in from a browser.
  2. Select Messaging in the left navigation menu.
  3. Select Create and then select New channel.
  4. Enter the channel's Name and then select Create.
  5. To add members to the channel:
    1. Select Add User Icon.
    2. Search for and select members from the results. You can only add members from your organization.
    3. Select Add.
    4. To remove a member from the channel, hover over the member's name in the right panel and then select the trash can icon.
    You can add new members to your channel at any time.
  6. To send a message, type your new message at the bottom of the screen and then press enter on your keyboard.
    Note: You cannot delete channel messages.
  7. To leave a channel, select the down arrow next to the channel's name, select Leave channel > Leave.
    If you are the last person in the channel, you will be prompted to delete the channel.

Mobile app

  1. Open the GoTo mobile app on your device.
  2. Select Messages from the bottom of the screen.
  3. Select GoTo Mobile Add Icon and then select Create a private channel.
  4. Enter the channel's Name and then select Create.
  5. To add members to the channel:
    1. Select Info Icon and then select Add members.
    2. Search for and select members from the results. You can only add members from your organization.
    3. Select Done.
    You can add new members to your channel at any time.
  6. To send a message, type your new message at the bottom of the screen and then select Send Icon.
    Note: You cannot delete channel messages.
  7. To leave a channel, select Info Icon > Leave channel > Leave.
    If you are the last person in the channel, you will be prompted to delete the channel.
